You can climb Ben Nevis or go for a stroll along the towpath of the Caledonian Canal. There are all standards of walks in Lochaber. The high tops are a challenge for the well prepared. For the high hills a map and a compass and knowing how to use them are essential. Part of the fun is in working out where and how you might reach your target.

For those with perhaps more gentle walks or a bad weather alternative in mind there are many hidden tracks and places of interest to visit. There are some good forest walks and events organised by the Forestry Commission. The object of the following is to suggest to you places where there is a walk as well as something to see. We tell you how to get there, assuming you are travelling from Corpach. Then we say how long the walk is, how difficult, and what foot wear is recommended. Some of the walks are well sign posted in which case no further information is required others we describe more fully. This information is evolving so we make no pretence that it is complete or up to date, it is our best shot with the time and information we’ve got together so far. Any comments or additions are welcome. For more information select an AREA
