The chalet with the house and Ben Nevis in the background Fort William and Ben Nevis are near our self catering holiday cottage. The Caledonian Canal, the West Highland Way and the West Highland Line are at the bottom of the garden. Kilmallie Chalet is in Lochaber, The Outdoor Capital of the UK, in the Highlands of Scotland. It makes a good base for activities including forest walks, climbing Ben Nevis, hill walking, rock climbing, skiing, mountain biking, white water kayaking, sailing, touring, steam train spotting, and seeing the history of the area (Prince Charlie)

We are in a very beautiful part of the Highlands, and many places of interest are within easy reach. We are keen on outdoor activities ourselves, and will be pleased to share our local knowledge. If you are interested in woodturning then you can have a go or see a demonstration.

A view of the garden from the chalet Our modern chalet is on the "sunny side" of Loch Linnhe in Corpach 4 miles from Fort William. It is in a corner of the large garden of Kilmallie House, which is an Historic Scotland (Category B) listed building dating from 1805, designed by Thomas Telford as the superintendent's house for the nearby Caledonian Canal. ( Ordnance Survey Sheet 41, Map reference NN095768.) Guests can drive to the door of the chalet, which is completely self-contained and private, and has a lovely view over our garden to Loch Linnhe, Fort William and the mountains beyond. The chalet is double glazed, insulated and all electric. You can walk down the garden where the scenic Mallaig Railway line, on which a steam train runs in summer, is between the garden and the loch. Corpach station is close by. Local shops, a short walk away, are open till 10 p.m. Fort William, has supermarkets etc and is 4 miles away, bus and train are within a few minutes walk.
